Day 6 In Jakarta

Rev. Rocking on The Piano

Got up very early today, as we need to be in the church by 7AM. Woke up I think about 6, then fell back to sleep again. 45 mins later, Deluxe knock on my door to wake me up. So quickly got a brief shower and headed to church. We arrived at church about 7, and they’ve already started to pray for the whole service. Once that was done, the choir practice their song which they will be presenting later during the service. And the Rev, was their pianist which I think he really can rock. Today’s message was to tie up on the previous Thursday service, whereby we all should rise up, be fill with the Spirit of God and reach out. After service, while mama and papa had to stay back for choir practice. Deluxe and myself went out and returned her gown to the bridal shop. When we got back to the church, we went and tapao some breakfast at the nearby store and head back to the church to wait for mama and papa.

Where we got our food

Pretty rare to see things like this again

After church, we went to WTC Mangga Dua Square to finalize the engagement invitation card. Just to make sure that everything is printed out properly and with no spelling mistakes or what soever. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to take a picture of our card due to the fact that they use recycle paper I think. But anyway, it turned out great and can’t wait for it to come out. Then we head straight up to the top floor and plan to have lunch there. But when we got up there, a service from another church was being held there. So all of the chairs were taken by them.

Chicken Rice??

Singapore Fried Kueh Tiaw

Never the less, we still made our order and the store we ordered from gave us their chair. Deluxe had Chicken Rice (it’s actually named something else, but I forgotten what it was), while the rest of us had Singapore Fried Kueh Tiaw which was quite ok. After that was over, we went back to the ground floor and bought some bread from Bread Talk. Business seems to be very good for Bread Talk as the queue was very long and they kept on refilling their display area with bread and other delicious bakery. Once we bought finished the bread, we head over to Aunt Fut’s place to have a chit-chat.

Happy buns

Mall filled with people

Harley Made In Germany out of wood

We spent quite a while there, chatting and had kueh bae (ba-it). Pak Pak was there as well, so we had some more makan there and of course managed to drink some chicken herbal soup which was just the drink I need to continue the day. As all of us were sitting around and watching TV enjoying the kueh bae which was made by Aunt Fut, it sort of kinda remind me of the same environment where I was back in Long Lama with my 2nd Aunt as she would be making some goodies for us to eat, while telling us stories. Despite of being in a huge city, you still can get the same good old family gathering environment which is similar to smaller village which I used to go to.

Mama continue to stir the kueh, while Aunt Fut went and get the plates

After that, we head over to Diamond cake house to check finalize our cake as well to be used on that day. We managed to get a cake which is about 2.1 meters tall (inclusive of table), and the person who was there told us to go to Angke to taste the type of cake that we want to use. Apparently that was our next stop, and there we were going off to Angke as we also need to meet up with the wedding organizer. Angke was having a 2 days exhibition for wedding dinner functions, I think it was done very well. Think of it like PC fair, but instead each booth represent different services such as wedding organizers, gown rental, etc, and best of all free food.

Me Tasting the food

After we finalized everything for that day program and the food we requested in Angke, mama and papa decided to go back while Deluxe and I went to another shopping mall to look for her shoe. We managed to get her shoes in Java which was currently having sale at the moment, and I think we got her shoes was a great bargain. After that we headed over to Kelapa Gading Mall, to have a look around and see if they have any other stuff that we need. After walking a few minutes, I started to get hungry so we went up to Hoka-Hoka Bento. It’s like a Japanese Fast Food restaurant, and indeed it was very good.

Deluxe with her value meal

Rudy’s Martabak

Hundreds of people waiting for their food

After dinner, we went downstairs again to buy some stuff to bring back home to share with our CG members as well did some groceries shopping. Then we head over to the outer part of Kelapa Gading to try their famous Martabak which Deluxe had been promoting most of the time during her stay in Kuching. So she went and ordered Martabak Manis, which was actually Apam Balek whereby they put in peanuts as well as chocolate rice with sweet condense milk. Once we’ve bought that, we walk back home. Then as I tried the Martabak, I tell you it taste really, really good. I still can taste the food while I’m typing this. After clearing up everything, I showered and call it a night. Thus end Day 6.

Day 5 In Jakarta – Margaret's Wedding

Aunty preparing our lunch

Today got up as usual. Had a quick bath and waited for mama and papa to see what was our plan for the day. We first went to Chikini to have our lunch. Papa had gado-gado while mama and I had lontong sayur. After that we went to Romana, and I started to take pictures of all the items which we plan to post it on eBay.

First Building In Jakarta

After that, papa had an appointment with the doc for his skin. So accompanied him there as it will be a very long wait. Think after waiting for 2 hour it was finally his turn, and we were on the way back to Romana. Once there i wanted to go to Alfa shopping center and get my shoes. Papa followed me and went to Bata, yeah i know. But the other malls didn’t have my size, it’s not that i didn’t try. Once we got my shoes, we head back to the shop and get ready for Margaret wedding dinner.

Newly Wed

We got there slightly a little bit late as usual due to traffic. We got in there the party has just started not long ago. Here their wedding reception is slightly different, whereby most of the people here uses buffet style. And there are a few stalls which are there to serve a limited amount of portion for certain food.

A Sight For Sore Eyes

Anyway, in the midst of all the commotion there stood an angel in the corner. With all the make up and hair do, she still couldn’t fool me. She has always been beautiful to me. She was indeed a sight for sore eyes. Had not seen Deluxe the whole day, as she was Margaret’s bridesmaid. My poor baby was exhausted the whole day, and still can’t eat yet as she was not relived from her post so had to accompany the bride. She was basically the person to ensure that everything goes smoothly today. And it wasn’t an easy job as everyone thought it would be, but she managed to pull through. During the photo taking session was her only time to get food, and she was really hungry. Eventually everything end well, and we all head back home to call it a day.

Day 4 In Jakarta

Tauhu Kembang

Woke up quite late a little. And didn’t feel that sleepy already. We had tauhu kembang or also known as taufufah for breakfast. After that papa wanted to take a video of him while he do his kungfu stance. Below is a video clip of him doing some of his routine exercise.

Inside Mall Kelapa Gading

After that we went to kelapa gading mall. They had everything there, before entering the mall we were being scanned first to see if we carried any bomb with us. At the entrance, we were given to try out a new contact lens. Apparently its a disposable lens. So we went and tried it out. Not much difference though, just that its a little bit thick i think. We didn’t spend much time there. We went in and bought a photo album. Then went back home using badjaj.

A Modified Kancil that turned into a Badjaj

Once back home, Deluxe went and check her mail because the person who was supposed to print our card eventually made a lot of mistakes, but was able to only finalize it this coming Sunday. Once that was done, we went first to Romana to drop papa and mama, while Deluxe went and brought me to Monas.

Monas

Here is the tower, where one could ascend and have the whole view of jakarta. But before that, you need to walk quite a distance to reach there. You might want to hitch a ride in a dalman that cost rp10,000. So we decided to walk instead. The entrance fees was rp8,000 person which entitle you to ascend the tower and have a look at the museum of how Indonesia was formed. Oh yeah, and if you notice the tip of this tower which looks like a fire is actually made from gold. Yeap, I think it’s about 300kg if I’m not mistaken.

Burger Spot

We went out and headed for plaza Indonesia next. Here deluxe showed me where the shop used to be. And it is really a big mall, where I felt as if I can go in and can never go out. We had a pit stop at a burger shop and had a quick snack before we head back to Romana. And from there we had dinner the drip deluxe at Margaret place as she will be the bridesmaid. Thus end day 4.

Day 3 In Jakarta

Church Pictures

Woke up extremely early as we need to be in church by 8. So i set my alarm to 6am Malaysian time. So i sort of got up by 5am, and yeah so was still bit groggy. Anyway we reached about 7.45 so we had bak so for breakfast. After that papa and I practice his song for the last time. Service was good, we celebrated the accession of Jesus Christ to heaven, and also the 29th Birthday of the church. A lot of programs were in stored for the day, began with Praise and worship followed by Choir Performance, then Papa solo which I help played the piano. He did sang very well, considering the fact that we only had 2 nights of practice T_T, then it was the sermon, which was followed by an instrumental music, next was a slide show for the past few years of the church growth. Next in line was the performance by the church’s Sunday School children who dance to the song “Through It All”. Next was the church’s committee appreciation session, followed by a solo from the youth and one from the Sunday School children who was singing the song “Still”, and ended with a prayer. Here’s a video clip I took of the little girl singing still.

Pasar Baroe

After that, we went to passer baroe after service. Here i had lontong campur, which tasted like sweet curry with loads of stuff in it. It had chicken, fried tauhu, bangkwang (dunno what you call that in English), Fried peanuts, and friend garlic. It was good. But please make sure you have to check the price or else you’ll get slaughtered. This bowl itself cost RP40,000 which is about RM16. So always ask first before you order :P

Lontong Campur

Then we went shopping after that. First went to look for mama’s and mum’s gown in one of the store in Metro shopping complex which was connected by a bridge from Pasar Baroe’s Building. Then we went and look for my shoe. There were a lot of people here, and boy I almost gone dizzy X_X” Anyway another thing you need to be careful here is that you’ve got to be cling on to your bag, because a lot of bag got slash in this area and most likely you would lose all your belongings without you noticing it. Went to pakpak place where we went and had his so called original brewed coffee. It did help me boost my energy but didn’t last long enough.

After that we went back to Ramona, as papa was waiting for kuchong to arrive. Deluxe brought me to a nearby shopping complex. The size of this shopping center I think is about the size of Tun Jugah. There we went and get some stuff for Miri. Once we’ve done our shopping, we went back and stayed there till the shop close. We had nasi uduk for dinner, while we were eating halfway there were 2 people singing (one person playing the guitar and the other one clapping his hand. Ended up giving them RP500, if not they’ll continue to sing or you have to ask them to go away. And thus end our day.

Day 2 In Jakarta

One of the vendors

I was awaken by an unusual tapping noise which was coming outside my room. It was only 9am here in Jakarta. So went outside to see what’s that tapping sound all about. So there I was hearing the vendors selling their own products with each having their very own call sign. Some were yelling, while others tap on their tin cans or ringing their bell. Pretty hard working these people. Whatever it takes to make a living. There items was either food, petrol or even a sewing machine somehow got attached to their motorcycle and they will help sew your item on the spot.

Ramona International Tailoring

Anyway the day started out by first going to Ramona, and managed to get to know Ah Loh, and Ah Wie. Very nice people to mingle with. And also I had to try out my coat which just to see if it fits or not. After that we went to the bridal shop to check Deluxe’s gown which she will be wearing this coming Saturday at Margaret wedding. After that i had a hair cut, which I think it was ok, but deluxe thought they didn’t cut at all.

Gado Gado

We went to golden truly after that. That’s where I had Sio may, Gado-gado, and Pempek. It is very good especially the gado-gado. Taste like indian rojak, but better :P From there we had a look around before we bought some batteries, and head over to Margaret’s place. She is also one siaw person. So its all good. After spending about 2 hours we went back home, had dinner, got a quick shower then practice dad song again till close to 1.30am. And thus end day 2.
