Been A Long Time

Side Track
This is my 3rd attempt to complete this post.. Haha.. I got stuck halfway and don’t know what to write all of a sudden.. Hopefully will be able to complete it this time.

It’s been a while since I last blogged. Been pretty much busy for the past few weeks. Ever since the Sarawak Autistic Association Food Fair, I’ve been getting tons of queries and of course want freebies as which I think they are not entitled to. Lol. Plus those who really signed up with the course, do really want to expand their business. Anyway, will most likely be running a workshop in a month time from now, whereby I’ve already set a time frame for myself. Been getting ready a few things that are needed, and also hopefully the marketing would be sufficient enough :)
Was suppose to head over to Aunty Lily on Saturday evening to meet up with with photography sifus there, but eventually my financial advisor (a.k.a my eldest brother) was in town so I ended up meeting with him instead.

Yes, I do have a financial advisor who pretty much advise me on how to fully utilize my income and also how to generate more. And with the latest addition to my income, he was pretty much concern about me making that step. One thing was probably because he was still a bit skeptical about selling online. eBay is fine, but then own website he still finds it a bit difficult because I don’t really have an actual store actually. Anyway, as we were talking he asked me how am I doing in terms of financially as he was pretty concern as well since the baby is coming. I told him that I’m financially stable in a sense whereby I still yet to have a home loan and I’m getting by very nicely every month with a bit more to save and spend as well. Apparently he didn’t really sound too impress with my statement. Lol. Anyway, he was asking me what else I was doing.

So I told him apart from the shop, eBay, Webhosting & Design, Computer Store, Mortgage Reduction, and also teaching people how to sell on eBay. So he was wondering how much I was charging the course, and also how long does it takes. So I pretty much gave him a figure, and also the amount of time which I give for both my full course and also free course. So after evaluating the whole thing, and also the experience that I’ve recently had. He was telling me that, I’m pretty much undercharging people for my services. And also I was being taken advantage of as well, with the recent food fair sales clients. Whereby I shouldn’t really be doing meeting up session because it would take longer and by right I can actually charge them for consultation fees. Because under my terms and condition on the registration forms whereby I clearly state that it’s supposed to be a PHONE BASED consultation.

Great streamyx is acting up again. -_-” Been getting a bad line recently.. Will try and finish off this later.

He said something that pretty much struck me, and sort of got me thinking. “Don’t underestimate yourself on the things you can do. What seems to be easy for you, doesn’t necessary be easy for others.” The reason was because, they pretty much treat me like cr@p because of the low rates I’ve charged them during the food sale. It’s only RM10, and they are not really interested in the things I’m actually doing. He made me understand that, what I’m doing is actually would bring benefit to people but the problem with people is that they don’t take me seriously. And to them, that RM10 they paid me is as if I owe them a lot and probably they don’t know that I didn’t even absorb a single cent from the food sale. Plus I have a certificate that actually backed me in the things I’m doing, and I actually had to pay for the course. So it would be fair for me to charge them accordingly as well. He told me I shouldn’t feel guilty for charging people money, because if you don’t hit them where it hurts the most they’ll never take me seriously. A good example was just the other day he went and get someone to install a water heater for him, and the fella charged him RM200 for installation apart from the water heater itself. And what’s the RM200 for? Just basically drill some holes, change some pipe, and pull a cable for power that’s all. Basically he could have done it himself, and he paid RM200 for nothing. So it practically apply in every situation, and whereby in KL people are paying thousands of dollars for these type of courses (no wonder I’ve been getting a lot of queries from KL).

So in conclusion, considering the fact that with the increase of the prices everywhere, I need to do what is right. Whereby I have to be firm for the service I offer and state it very clear that I’m not doing this for charity anymore because it is the right thing to do. And of course I need to value myself as well. The light & easy course would still be free but it will only be done via phone consultation only and strictly no meet ups. I would be coming up with another package as I understand that maybe the full course might be too costly for one person to handle, so I would be making a group course to help ease the burden. Other miscellaneous updates which I’ll try to post later on where I lost my phone during the Youth’s Amazing Race a few weeks back. So stay tuned.
