Don Moen He Never Sleeps

Was thinking of this song while Esther was in the hospital the very first night. Apparently I was tired, and so was Deluxe. And this song came into mind, and I know for sure that Esther will be all right because we have a God that never sleeps. Thank God for his mercy that He was able to make sure that Esther would be all right in the end. Thank God for all the things He has done.

Don Moen – He Never Sleeps
Verse 1 :
When you’ve prayed every prayer that you know how to pray.
Just remember the Lord will hear and the answer is on it’s way.

Pre-Chorus :
Our God is able.
He is mighty.
He is faithful.

Chorus :
And He never sleeps, He never slumbers.
He never tires of hearing our prayer.
When we are weak He becomes stronger.
So rest in His love and cast all of your cares on Him.

Verse 2:
Do you feel that the Lord has forgotten your need.
Just remember that God is always working in ways you cannot see.

Long Christmas Week

Didn’t really had the time to update this space. Probably because really busy or either that really tired after a long day. So what happened over the past few weeks. Probably I’ll summarize my week on how it went. Well.. Pretty much the major part if I’m not mistaken.

December seems to be the most busiest month of the year if you’re pretty much involve with church activities. Well, this year I didn’t really participate much with many events due to the newly born baby. I know it’s not an excuse but there are a lot of good reason behind it, where I would pretty much explain later in this part for this posting. Yeah, so this will be one of those long post which I will be posting so you have been warned. :P

Doulos was in town, so Deluxe and I decided to head over there to see the ship. This would prolly be the last time Doulos be in town as she’s gonna retire in 2008. The bookstore was kinda small from what I used to recall. The last trip I was there, I think was back in somewhere 2000 or 2001 where it landed in Bintulu. Anyway, when we went inside the book store the place was filled with people trying to see what books they can purchase. Deluxe and Esther had a good time looking at some books, but unfortunately they decided not to get anything much. I managed to called up dad, and he wanted a NKJV bible which I bought. And also we managed to get a toddler bible for Venice as well as for Esther. Was it cheap? Not too sure as I didn’t pretty much check the bookstore. But since this is for charity why should one even consider if an item was cheap or not. Anyway, that’s pretty much my personal opinion. Hehehe.. Never the less you can see more pictures here in my multiply site. Well, at least Esther managed to get on the ship so she’s going to be part of history in the making :P Hehehe.. Poor Esther was almost roasted inside as it was very hot inside the ship, and her face was really getting very red. So Deluxe quickly took her out near the cashier which was cooler and less people there. By the time we were about to go out, it began to rain heavily. And we were pretty much stuck there for over an hour, before I saw an umbrella near the cashier. So I went and asked if I could borrow it, as the helper was very reluctant in lending me the umbrella worried that it will never return. But after noticing Esther, she finally allowed me to use the umbrella. After sending both Deluxe and Esther back to the car, I quickly rushed back in returning the umbrella and thanked the helper. So this is a reminder to everyone, if you want to borrow things from people please return it to them ya. Who knows there are people who really are in need in the near future.

Breakthrough had a fund raising food sale for the month of December. This is pretty much to get funds to help the poor, and Doulos came to help out in one of their case which was Mdm. Lipang. There were also other activities that was held in the Spring every weekend for this purpose. As other churches came together to perform every week in hoping to help raise funds for the poor. For more information just head over to Breakthrough’s Website.

Well, took a very short trip to Jakarta. As something huge was happening there. But before I left, I managed to get hold of my mom to come up for a few days just to accompany Deluxe as well as Esther. This would probably be my first and last time I would do this type of kang tao again. Lol. As soon as they dropped me off at the airport, I’ve already missed them like crazy. -_-” Not to mention the delay from Airasia was fantastic, didn’t really help much but rather cause a lot of unnecessary problems especially in terms of health. Anyway, the plane was late about 45 minutes, as I tried to rush out from the plane to the terminal. Dad and mom was outside waiting for me already, and pretty much catch up with the latest news of Esther. I arrived in Jakarta probably about close to 1 am Malaysia time, and we head out for dinner. The only thing that I never miss Jakarta was it’s massive traffic jam. Because they were constructing the road which pretty much made the jam worst from airport to town. Anyway, by the time we reached our destination, had dinner and got home was about already close to 4am in the morning.

So the next day which was pretty much after 3 hours of sleep, Dad and I went over to his farm to collect more dragon fruit which was to be used for later a dinner party that night. And boy did I had a fun time going around the farm, despite of the ground being muddy and pretty much made me unable to walk normally. Lol.. Never the less, it was a sight for sore eyes, after going through the massive jam again. Yes they have jam as early as 7am X_X” But it was all good. From the farm we went back home again to sort out the fruits, and pretty much got ourselves ready for that night. Please bare in mind that it was 11am, and we need to get ready for the party. One thing I learn from Jakarta is that make sure you have everything before leaving the house. Else it would pretty much sux because you might need to go back which is not feasible. Hehehe. So we had lunch at Saring Kuring, and had a hefty meal there then we were off to the tailor shop. After reaching the shop, only managed to relax for at least 2 hours before we were on our way again to the party. Yeah, I think it was 5pm already by then. And we pretty much got stuck in the jam probably about 3 hours before reaching the destination. That’s Jakarta, and part and partly it was Friday. The day where more cars come out for no reason at all. Lol.

During dinner, I had the chance to finally meet Anna & Venice. Venice is about 11 months older compared to Esther. Hehehe. She is one happy baby, but unfortunately for me she wasn’t interested in getting to know me. Lol. As she pretty much wouldn’t want to hang around with strangers. Hehehe.. Anyway, also managed to catch up with a few of the relatives that I know of as well that night, as it would be difficult in meeting them personally at their home. So it was good that all of them came. After dinner, we head back home and pretty much call it a day. And boy was I beat from all the traveling in the car. Think basically 80% of the time was in the car, which caused me to get a bit of car sick as well as nausea. But it’s all good. But what I couldn’t wait was to go home, the next day. Had lunch and went off to the shop before heading off to the airport. More pictures can be seen here in my multiply site – Short Jakarta Trip. My trip back this time wasn’t really that pleasant as I started to feel as if my engine really went condemn. Inside the plane I was already coughing like mad, and I wouldn’t even want to comment about the trip. People should really TURN OFF their phones inside the flight. No doubt nothing will happen, but I still want to go home and see my family. If you guys got tired of living already, let me know I would be more than happy to throw you guys off the plane. The nerve of some people. For those of you who might wonder if turning on the phone is safe on the plane, then prolly I suggest you read it here and get info from the captain himself.

Due to the delay I had inside the plane, I pretty much got home about close to 11pm. Finally able to see my mom, Deluxe and Esther. Mom was still downstairs watching TV, while Deluxe was resting and Esther was finally sleeping. Had a brief chat with Deluxe and my mom before calling it a night. The next day, I was very reluctant to go to church as I feel very uneasy all over. I was coughing none stop, and I definitely know I wasn’t feeling too good already. Due to the fact I had to lead worship that morning, I just pray for enough strength to get me through it. After leading, I thank God that He was able to bring me through it without any hiccups or coughing in between. My body suddenly just began to shut down. I was already feeling very cold, and started to break into cold sweat. Went over and asked Manan for 2 Panadol, then quickly get into the car and rest there. After church, dropped by Family cafe to tapao before heading back. By the time we reached home, I told Deluxe that I don’t really feel too good already and told her I’ll get some sleep first.

After sleeping for 3 hours, things didn’t turned out well. So mom asked me to go and kao sua. After the painful exorcism of “wind” in my body, I still didn’t feel too good so I told my mom I think better head over to Timberland and see a doctor. After the doctor consultation, we went home and I took the medicine and went to sleep. I got up about 9pm, and Deluxe came and asked how was I doing. I told her I still feel the same, and she asked me to take something first before going to sleep again. During this time, things really got very weird. Whereby, I’m starting to see everything yellow. At first I thought there were something wrong with the lights. So after having dinner, I went and ask my mom to check with her if the lights were yellow. She told me no, it’s white. She went and ask Deluxe is it yellow or white, and Deluxe said it was white. Basically, that pretty much freak them and mom straight away and called Timberland to see what’s up with me. Apparently they said it’s nothing to worry about, it was due to the fever that’s why I was having yellow vision. Still not satisfied with the answer, she went and called Uncle Paul and asked him what’s wrong with me. He told my mom that is something must not be taken too lightly, and I was asked to wait for them for another half an hour and he’ll drop by with Aunty Esther.

I think these pictures would best describe my yellow vision. On the right would be a normal scene, but what I’m seeing is like on the left. Basically my white balance is pretty much turned out to be too warm.

Anyway, by the time both Uncle Paul and Aunty Esther arrived the first thing they check me was my pulse. And apparently that was something that Timberland doctor didn’t do. What they did was just ask to open my mouth and said it’s common. So they suggest to my mom that I should head over to General Hospital. So here I was, still feeling groggy and seeing everything yellow. I was asked to sit down while I was being called by the doctor. Apparently I didn’t wait too long, and the doctor asked me what’s wrong? So I pretty much told him that I’m having fever, a bit giddy and of course everything looks yellow to me. The next thing I knew was that, he asked me to head over to the other room and stay there. And what caught my attention was that the room was labeled yellow zone, so I jokingly asked Uncle Paul “Is this where they keep everyone who has yellow vision is it?” He laughed and said well, this is only the observation room. So I was asked to lie down on the bed, and the nurse started to puncture me to get my blood. She asked me not to worry about it, and probably I might need a drip. But in the mean time, I gave some of my blood for testing especially for malaria. I couldn’t really recall the time I got in, probably about 10.30-11.00pm like that. So what I know next was, it was the beginning of a very long night for me.

After I was being examined, I was wheeled into the other room where other patients were there. Everything was still yellow to me, and I was given a drip. I asked mom to go home, as Deluxe is now alone at home, and I should be fine. Uncle Paul and Aunty Esther stayed back to accompany me. During this time, a lot of things went through my mind and was pretty much wondering how in the world I ended up here. I couldn’t really sleep much cause another patient just 2 beds next to me kept on throwing up, and I was pretty much still having a splitting headache. But as soon as I was about to fall asleep, the nurse came over and checked my blood pressure as well as my temperature. Then the doctor who examined me earlier, asked me if I’m working the next day or not. And I told her no, and she said that I was pretty much exhausted and should take a few days off. So basically I thought to myself, probably it’s really time for me to take a break from everything else. Fortunately I wasn’t involve in the up coming Christmas event so it’s all good. And maybe, should spend more time with Deluxe and Esther instead, whereby I felt that would be my priority now. As I promised Esther that I wouldn’t want to miss any part of her life. But here I was, lying in the hospital bed, couldn’t sleep and everyone was still pretty much yellow to me. Prolly this would give me the guts to say no whenever something arise, and it’s pretty much time for me to take care of myself. Call me selfish, but who gives right? Practically at the end of the day, when things like this happened who was there for me. Did anyone cared ? Well, only my family and basically Uncle Paul and Aunty Esther. So why do so much for people, when they never really appreciate you for the things you’ve done. And you get blasted once in a while because you don’t meet their expectation. So why bother sacrificing my time and effort for people who never really appreciate me. But rather, the people whom I neglected most of the time (which is my family) are the ones who stuck by me through thick and thin. So I’ve pretty much made up my mind already on what I need to do in my life for the following year. Even though I told someone that I need a break, but apparently this someone does not understand English I believe never took me seriously. So that pretty much my reflection during my stay in the hospital. I got discharged the next day which is close to 6am as there were more people who are currently being admitted to the yellow zone.

Uncle Paul sent me home, and mom open the door for me. After thanking Uncle Paul, I went straight into dad’s room and rested there. Deluxe came in shortly and was relieved that I was home already. Told her everything is all right, and she shouldn’t really worry already and should get some more rest. During Christmas Eve, Deluxe and Esther went for their regular check up. And apparently, Deluxe caught my virus but only cough and flu. Esther was doing all right, and was given the rota virus vaccine. So we thought that we would be spending Christmas Eve at home and things would turned out well. We didn’t have a big celebration for Christmas as I was still sick, and Deluxe wasn’t feeling too well as well. And mom was still around, so we pretty much hang out at home and catch up on a few things together. Towards the evening, we sent mom to the airport and went home thinking that we could finally get some rest.

The next day, I finally have the chance to open up the shop after it has been closed for like 1 week. But during the afternoon when I brought back lunch for Deluxe, we noticed there were something wrong with Esther. She was like that since morning after her bath, but Deluxe thought she could be constipated and that was pretty much it. But when it continued till lunch time, I told Deluxe I think it would be best to bring her to see the doctor. The nurse was worried as she was making the sound which sate that she’s feeling uncomfortable. So we pretty much jumped queue, and was seen by the doctor next. She said it would be best to admit her right now, as she’s still small and her immune system might not be strong enough to fight off the virus. She got punctured as well, to take some blood for testing as well as for drip. And also they went and extracted some fluids from her spinal cords to see if there were any infections in her brain. During that time I was pretty much lost and sms everyone in CG. And I thank them for their prayers and support, and thank God that there weren’t any infection in her brain. After the extraction she was brought into the room where we pretty much stayed there for the next 4 days. She was very pale, and was shivering most of the time. We couldn’t really hold her because she needs to lie flat at least 6 hours, due to the extraction. When Esther got up, she was crying as Deluxe and I tried to comfort her the nurse said she might be hungry. It was difficult to feed Esther as she didn’t want to be bottle fed, so ended up breast feeding her. We placed a pillow between her and Deluxe lap and she stayed in that position for a few hours. Poor Deluxe was tired, and couldn’t really sleep whereby we took turns in watching her. We couldn’t place her on the same bed where we slept, because she was strapped to 3 tubes, one was for her drip, another to check her pulse while another one was to give her oxygen. Probably that was the worst part for the first night. The next day, I went home for a while to get a few more things for Deluxe as well Esther. Took a quick shower and headed back to the hospital. Esther was still feeling a bit groggy and a bit in a foul mood. But I went and brought one of her friends to see her. And when she saw her friend, she literally lighten up and started to laugh and talk again. Probably you must be wondering who is this friend of hers?

Yeap. You got that right, we actually had a picture of a fan of this Merlion which we got from Singapore a 2 years ago. How it came about was, Esther was feeling very hot one day and I was using a cloth to fan her. Deluxe suddenly remembered and pulled out this fan which has a symbol of a Merlion. So after fanning her with it, I think Deluxe was holding it up for her to see. The next thing you know, she was smiling and started talking to it as if she found a new friend. So that pretty much got her spirit lighten up, and she also have another 4 more friends which is an elephant, a bear, a doll, as well the most recent one a picture of a baby on one of the baby wipes containers. Anyway, from that time onwards we knew that Esther would be fine as she was pretty much back to normal. But the doctor didn’t want to release her just yet as, she was given the antibiotics for 3 dose. The first that came off was the drip, followed by the oxygen tube. From there it was much easier for Esther to sleep on the bed, whereby Deluxe slept next to her. I pretty much slept on the lazy chair which was surprisingly comfortable. Anyway, on Sunday I went back again to get a few more things and my portable hard disk. We pretty much had a movie marathon then, as we watched “The Gods must be Crazy Part 1 & Part 2″, “Fun with Dick & Jane”, “Frequency”, and a few series of “Just for Laugh”. As all of us were pretty much anxious to go home. Esther temperature goes up and down, which could due to the fact that we wrapped her up thinking she might be cold. But the nurse did mention not to cover her up too much. So on Monday evening we were finally released, and Esther was finally back home.

Currently Esther is doing well, and we were pretty much exhausted especially for Deluxe. Probably it’s due to her mother instincts that made her not to sleep well, whereby for me I easily got knocked out. So yeah.. That’s pretty much about it. And finally the shop is open again, and would like to thank everyone who have been praying for Esther. And of course not to forget the road sweeper, who always made sure our shop is clean in front. Anyway, was thinking of putting my new year resolution in this post, but then again I guess I’ll leave it to the next one. So on behalf of Deluxe & Esther, I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year, and hope that next year would be a better year for everyone.

So Its December

ok.. Apparently haven’t really been updating this site. Been extremely busy especially handling Esther lately. Recently Deluxe and I pretty much swapped placed for a few days. And I pretty much understand what Deluxe is going through with Esther. Apparently Esther is one happy and active baby. Lol, never the less. It was pretty fun watching her for these few days.

So these few days, Esther has been pretty much active in a way that I can’t really get much things done. As she’s pretty much demanding and need tons of attention. Lol, but I guess that’s normal where a friend of mine did warn me. I’m not complaining though. There was one incident when I thought she fell asleep already, so I decided to go for a quick break at the toilet. Unfortunately for me, while halfway relieving myself she started crying. By the time I finished doing my business and wash my hands, I quickly went over to her and carry her. Apparently she was still upset about the whole thing, and kept pushing me away. Lol. It was pretty funny, but kesian at the same time. When I told this to Deluxe, she told me that before I have to go and leave her alone for a while, I must at least inform her where I’m going. I was like 0_o. I was like seriously, and she did explain her few experience when placing Esther on the bed while doing the laundry. And when Esther began to call, Deluxe would be at the door and start calling her Esther would just smile and continue to happily play by herself.

Anyway, despite being a daddy for over two months already. There were times where I had to leave them for practice as well as for duty. In my mind I feel that it wasn’t right for me to do so. So most likely next year, I would be pulling myself out from a lot of activities which I think I will not be participating anymore and pretty much stay home and spend time with them. As I wouldn’t want to have a far relationship between me and Esther. Hopefully I would be able to bring them out more often, but Deluxe said that it’s going to be difficult to move especially with Esther. And there would be time when Esther might get cranky.

Now it’s the month of December. And apparently the most busiest month of the year. So pretty much settle my shopping list already, and also not to mention for myself. Yes. I’ve decided to get something for myself again. Hehehe.. What is it? Well, guess we need to find out after Christmas :P Okie dokie.. Need to sign out now, as I need to go tapao something for lunch already. Will be updating the site soon :P

Mothers

So I pretty much took the afternoon shift in taking care of Esther today. As I now pretty much understand what does Deluxe goes through everyday. Boy, it’s not easy as how she describe it. Practically when Esther is up, you literally can’t do anything much. As I tried to understand Esther everyday, basically it’s not that simple. Lol…

So that’s why God created mothers in this earth. Apparently they can take more compared to men. Probably God created them so well, that no wonder men can’t live alone. Lol.. No offense ya.. Anyway, back to the purpose of writing this post. Mothers are really something. But unfortunately many of time even I myself take my mum for granted. I really admire the strength and courage what my mom pretty much did for me, prolly when I’m at Esther’s age. Never the less, I bet she woke up more often compared to my dad. Well, Deluxe gets up ALL of the time compared to me. I pretty much can sleep through the whole night, as for Deluxe she tends to get up even the slightest sound that Esther makes.

I really admire her strength despite the fact she doesn’t get much sleep but she still can throw a punch if she needs to. Never the less, I am still in the process of getting to know Esther more and more each day. Thank God for Sis.Grace’s cd that she gave us, apparently Esther prefer “Children’s Favourite Hymns in Music Box” compared to Baby loves Mozart. And it does help makes Esther goes to sleep. But I can’t deny the fact even though as much as I want her to go to sleep during the day time, but she’s so much fun to play with when she’s awake.

Currently Deluxe is teaching her how to speak, which I thought maybe she’s still too young. But when I did get her to try and repeat after me. Though she can’t get the words right, but she had a fun time trying to imitate the sounds that was coming out of my mouth. I’m suppose to speak with Esther in Hokkien why Deluxe in Hakka. But I always ended up speaking to her in Hakka instead. Lol. What to do, that’s my mother tongue I guess.. Hehehe.. Never the less, she’s so much cute when she tries to make the sound that we asked her to say.

But probably one of the best time I had with Esther was today, whereby she tends to throw up all over me. Changing her diapers (not to say I didn’t change previously), trying to burp her, and of course trying to get her to sleep cuz I was pretty much tired already. But I’ve got to respect Deluxe because despite she’s tired, she still can managed to pull through the whole time.

All in all, not only I’m learning on how to be a daddy. But I’m also learning more about Deluxe as well as my mom. I could pretty much imagine how my mom would be upset whenever I screw up or pretty much made her worried. And all the time she was scolding or lecturing back then, was pretty much she did it out of love. And I had a hard time understanding back then, and thought maybe I was right all the time. But she always would say, “Wait till you have your own children, then you will understand”. Even though one as blur as I can get, what I’m going through with Esther right now is probably what my mom is talking about. Not easy in raising a child, and I guess it would hurt them more whenever we screw up. Probably they might feel as if they failed in trying to raise us up.

Ever since Esther came into my life, I finally understand how it is like to be a parent. And not only that, there are so many things that needed to be done, and it’s pretty much a long journey from now on. As Dr.Patricia Ling said the work for another 20 years has just begun. But it would be great to see how Esther go through in life. I pretty much still wonder if I’ll be the bad cop, while Deluxe the good cop scenario. We shall see by then :)

By the way.. Just yesterday, my cell group went and visit Mat & Michelle in celebrating the arrival of Samantha about 2 weeks ago. I guess both Esther and Samantha would prolly be good friends, as they seem to got acquainted yesterday. And next up would be Elmund & Caca, as they are expecting a boy. Wonder if Esther and Samantha would fight over him, lol.. I guess that’s way too much of thinking. Never the less, it’s all good.. Guess the cell group is pretty much multiplying. Hehehe.. More pictures taken here at our CG multiply site. Now is that ironic :P
