I Dont Feel Too Good

Esther had caught a cold for the past few days. And apparently it’s not getting any better.. Still wondering if we should bring her to the doctor or not. But so far she haven’t shown any serious symptoms which we think it’s still ok. We shall see by tomorrow if she’s not well, probably might need to see a pediatrician.

Ok. So lately I haven’t been feeling too well as well. Probably that’s how Esther caught my bug. Hopefully it’s nothing serious like last time. As I got up I think pretty early than usual when everything was still dark. And I’m pretty much getting the chills, and head is spinning. Could be because of the lack of sleep. Might catch a quick 15 mins nap later during lunch time.

Anyway, things been running a bit slow around here.. Haven’t really started on spring cleaning. Most likely will do it later this evening. Hehehe. So it’s all good. Never the less, my parents in law will be arriving tomorrow. And most likely will be more lau jiet when they’re here, before we leave back to Miri. Currently still doing some more research for a contract, to pretty much save my butt in case later something happen. Apart from that, I think I will keep it short for today as I’m seriously not feeling very well, and I can’t pretty much think straight at the moment. You guys have a nice day.

Calling Everyone I Know

Is it just me or am I the only one who is having difficulty with Streamyx -_-” Keep on disconnecting, and couldn’t load a page properly >_<

Chinese New Year is around the corner. Yeap, and there are a few people whom I’ve still contact this year. Lol. Yeah, a good friend of mine whom I met during our Informatics days. Seriously need to catch up with him before I go back. Been a while since I last heard from him.

One of the most memorable things that we used to do together was probably writing a program for a school project. And apparently our group leader wasn’t really being helpful, and asked him to drop out from that subject. As he pretty much told me about it, I told him forget about what he said, and we’re going to get it done tonight. As I asked him to email me his source codes, and told him not to worry and will try to help him fix whatever his problem was. We pretty much worked the whole night through, as he was explaining it to me via Yahoo Messenger and I was going through it to see what I can do for him. To cut long story short, we managed to fix his problem and got him to prepared his part of presentation. In the end, we managed to pull through together and he pretty much scored higher compared to our group leader. Lol. But it’s all good. Anyway, once the holiday started, both of us celebrated by playing games the whole night through. That was because both of us just applied streamyx back then, so we didn’t had to get out from our homes. Yeah those were the days lol. Anyway, been a long time since I’ve checked up on him on how is he doing. Never the less, he has been supportive whenever I look for him for “kang tao”. So it’s all good.

Apparently he does reminded me a little about Bong while I was back in Miri. Yeah, we used to scratch our heads the whole night through to get our programs to run. Apparently we feel that our brains works better when everyone else was asleep. Probably less distraction, and we pretty much had the whole work place to work on. After completing our task, we would end up go to one of the 24 hour shop and have fried mee or roti john to pretty much reward ourselves. And of course, we too play games the whole night through back when Counter Strike, Starcraft, & Warcraft 3 was hot. Looking back, I still couldn’t believe that we actually participated in competitions which was pretty much sponsored by our previous company haha. Man, that was funny.

So before I go, I pretty much need to catch up with the Bong of Kuching (yeah that’s his surname), and also will indeed catch up with the Bong in Miri who will be back a few days earlier from me in Singapore. The very last time I saw him was also during Chinese New Year, along with Francis as well as Alex Kong a.k.a “Si Boot”, while I was also given the nick name “Si Boot Lung”. Lol. Anyway, forgotten how that all started but these are the guys that I normally would love to hang out with when I get back. And who can forget my Ah Beng friend Alban, who was my best man for the wedding. Lol, too bad Mars ain’t around then probably we would have also start another jamming session.

My childhood friend Idham has been close to me along with Faizal. As we pretty much had a blast during Chinese New Year as well as Hari Raya. I miss both Idham & Faizal mum’s beef rendang and chicken kurma. But ever since I came to Kuching, I guess I pretty much miss out going to his place. But never the less, they has never failed coming to my place for Chinese New Year. Along with Azizan who may be small in size, but we pretty much got the kick out of everything whenever we get back. Can’t wait to see them as well.

I’m glad to have these festive season as it not only pretty much brings the family together but friends as well. So you guys have a good holiday for those who are driving back. Drive safely, and do have a good time with your family and friends. See ya.

Im Going Home

Finally did our Chinese New Year shopping yesterday at Saberkas as well as Parkson @ Riverside Majestic branch. Saberkas was packed with people and it was kinda difficult for us to pretty much navigate ourselves through the crowd. Esther was sleeping most of the time during the afternoon when we went and got some new clothes to bring back home.

Anyway, we had better shopping experience at Parkson. Was looking new clothes for Grandma, and unfortunately we couldn’t find anything that suits her in Saberkas. So we went back home first which was around 3pm, as Esther was getting a bit cranky as we suspect that she’s hungry. Anyway, after resting for 2 and a half hour we went out to Parkson this time. It was kinda empty, as we thought it would be packed. Probably the crowd are still having dinner as we presume. Anyway, surprisingly all the staff was pretty pleasant to deal with. As they were very helpful as well as polite. One reason it could be because we had Esther, and the lady at the hand bag area was really nice. Because we were looking at some hand bags, and as we tried to put it back she said that’s all right she can do it. As she said that, Esther is sleeping and wouldn’t want to wake her. Because we pretty much own a shop, and we kinda get very annoyed when people does not have any intention to buy but just mess up the place and leave. So we told her that it’s ok, and we’ll do it. Anyway, right now Parkson is having an offer if you spend every RM120, you get a RM10 voucher. Anyway, we managed to get good deals and I managed to get a T-Shirt that only cost me RM10 (Thanks to the discount vouchers). Hehehe. So it’s all good.

Going back home has always been a a great experience for me, especially during Chinese New Year. That’s the only time when all the family are able to come back together and celebrate. Which I pretty much think it’s great that we have all these festive season to bring family back together again. And during the Eve of Chinese New Year, we all would just head over next door to my Grandma’s place and have a feast and pretty much “Lau Jiet” there. This year, would be Esther 2nd time back in Miri. Well, the first time when she was there last year, she was still in mummy’s womb. And prolly she managed to “Lau Jiet” a bit. Hehehe. But this would indeed be her very first time outside of mummy’s tummy, and prolly be surrounded by all her uncles, aunty, grand parents, grand uncle and aunties. And not to forget her Great Grand Mother. As she is really anxious in meeting her. New Year also pretty much marks the most busiest time of the year for us, as we need to decorate the house and because I can’t help wash the house, most likely I’ll be the one hanging all the decoration at home. And my trademark each year is where I always hang the word “Gong Xi Fa Chai” at the living room wall, as that is already my duty. This was because I pretty much managed to put all those 4 words in correct order, as I think those are the other 4 more chinese words that I know. Never the less. It’s all good.

But this year, would be the longest holiday that both Deluxe and myself would be staying in Miri. One of the reason is because we want to “Show off” Esther around Miri. Lol. So it’s all good, considering that most of my uncles and aunties from my mum side will be in Miri as well. As my mum would have pretty much joined their rank to become grand ma already. LoL. I remember when I sent out a mass SMS to my parents, brothers and sister. The first thing my eldest brother did was call up my mum to tell her “Congratulations, your dream of being a grandmother has come true.” I guess, she was pretty much pushing him to get married first as she never thought that I would be the first to go in my family. But never the less, it’s all good and I can’t thank my eldest brother more because of all the contribution he did for the family. Just a few days after Esther was born, he went and called me up and asked me if Esther has a stroller already or not. During that time, he was asking me which stroller would be good and of course the people selling these strollers wanted to sell the so called must have “add ons”. Whereby I told him no need, as it’s not really that necessary. I guess he was also excited about the whole thing.

Hopefully this year, everyone would be in Miri as last year my younger brother had to go to Bario to sort of bring investor to see the place. But this year, he said he will be staying back and has no plans. Which is good, so I guess we’ll be able to take a family photo again after so long. Hehe. You guys have a nice day.

Empty Friday

Thought it was a nice song, when I heard it over Astro advertisement. When I read through the lyrics, it wasn’t what I really expected lol. But it’s all good. Still a nice tune to listen to.

Got a called from my mom yesterday evening, and apparently my uncle & 2 cousin was at the airport and waited there for almost 1 hour. So I quickly got dinner for Deluxe and rush straight to the airport. Apparently there were some miss communication, and ended up me going to pick them up.

It was raining, and I was pretty much driving at prolly at 60KM/h. And I almost crashed the car into someone, who pretty much could have been either forgetful or irresponsible because this driver was just coming out from the junction and enter the left lane. Without any signal, the driver (still driving very slowly) tried to cut to middle lane (that was where I was), and onto the right lane. Again it was raining, and I had to ram the brakes hopefully I wouldn’t crashed to the other car. As this is not the first time, when a driver does not use the car signal to try and cut lanes. What’s the point of the signal lights when people don’t even use it -_-” Maybe when the next time one would go to purchase a car, and said “Hey.. Maybe I don’t need a the car signal on the front, sides and the back. How much discount can be given after taking those 3 parts out?” The nerve of some people.

Anyway, upon reaching airport it began raining even harder. Apparently Aunty Esther had picked both my uncle and another cousin. My other cousin had to stay back because a lot of stuff can’t be fitted into the car. So I brought her to Hong Kong Noodle Saberkas first to get dinner for all 3 of them, and before heading to the hospital where they currently are. Once I dropped my cousin at the Accident & Emergency ward, I went and parked my car and head over there. Apparently he’s currently at the yellow zone, and I paid him a little visit.

It’s been a long time since I last saw him. And at a first glance I couldn’t really recognized him. Prolly because he lost some weight, and the wrinkles managed to catch up with him. Despite being not well, he’s still able to put up a jolly smile and showed that he’s pretty much glad to be back in Sarawak again. As they were in KL for over 6 months for his treatment. But still, it was really good to be able to see him, after so long. After chatted with him for a while, I went out from the Yellow Zone as it was pretty much quite crowded with a lot of other patients there.

Aunty Esther came out with me and told me that it would be better if I went with her along with another cousin of mine to check them in to the nearby inn first. So after transferring the stuff over and check in to their room, we headed back to the hospital once again. This time instead of going in to see him, I waited outside the waiting area there. As the doctors were pretty much upset with the number of people in that area, so I pretty much went off.

Since I had not had my dinner and the time was about close to 9pm already, I went and gave Deluxe a call to inform her that I’ll be late a bit as we’re still waiting to see if my uncle would be admitted or not. After that, I went to the mini market at the hospital and I couldn’t find anything that was appetizing. So I ended up got myself cloud 9 chocolate waffles instead. After consuming 6 of it, I felt a bit sick. Probably it’s because too much sugar or something, so I went off to the vending machine and got a cup of milo. It cost RM1, and yes it only accepts coins. And the amount? Prolly about 50ml ? It’s those small cups, really small cups that you would see at school sports day where you see a Milo Truck come by and started to serve cold milo. Anyway, yeah that’s what I had for dinner. Lol.

Anyway, while having my “dinner” at the waiting area, I heard a few story on why they are here and who they are waiting for. One of them was because, a his relative fell from the roof because it was raining and he tried to fix a leak if I’m not mistaken. So ended he fell down and that’s why he’s at the hospital. Another one was because, apparently they were driving down from Tebedu to Kuching and had actually drove the car down into the drain. It was raining heavily and they couldn’t see, and the worst part was that the passenger who was a pregnant lady apparently hit the dashboard, and is currently scanning to see if the baby is all right or not. Then one police came in to bring a drunk fella to check on his condition because he went and caused havoc which ended up got beaten up.

And the story goes on. So one thing I pretty much learn from all these experience is that, one should really be careful when doing things. If anything were to happen, your family members would also suffered no in terms of physically but rather mentally as most of them were going in and out of the hospital answering calls to update the rest of the family. So people do get stress sometimes when I see them pick up the phone and ended up repeating the same story all over again. Again since Chinese New Year is round the corner, let’s all drive carefully for those who will be driving back for the New Year. Since the weather now is kinda bad, drive slowly. And for those who will be going visiting during that time, don’t try to drink too much till you get drunk. Hehehe. Anyway, you guys have a nice day now.

Sarawak Laksa

I think I blogged enough about the flood and rain situation here in Kuching. Apparently there have been no flood and it’s just raining now. Hopefully there would not be another flood, and if it does I’ll prolly blog about it here again later.

Yes, one of the hidden treasure of Sarawak, apart from Kolo Mee is Sarawak Laksa. What’s so special about Sarawak Laksa anyway? Honestly speaking, I have no idea. Probably because I grew up eating Laksa, and haven’t tried other places Laksa so I pretty much wouldn’t know ;)

I never really have been a fan of Laksa when I was young. This was most likely due to the fact that I never really like spicy food. Yeah I was young and I couldn’t take it. Never the less, the very first Laksa that I took was probably 20 years ago when Granny made laksa one fine more for breakfast. Despite the fact that I told her I didn’t like it, she just said that “It’s not spicy”. And true enough, it wasn’t and the taste was superb! That was when I got introduced to the world of Laksa and spiciness. Hehehe.

Anyway, what I learned from eating Laksa is that there are a few things that one should be picky about :-

1. It MUST contain prawns!
Just last week when Deluxe went and got us breakfast she decided we should have Laksa since we have been eating Kolo for the past few days. So apparently, when she got back and we were about to eat. To our surprise, there are NO PRAWNS in it. So that is one major thing you must remember. If there is NO PRAWNS in Laksa, it should not be called Laksa.

Pictures Stolen From Derbe

2. Make sure the prawns are CLEAN!
Several years ago, I recalled when I had a bowl of Laksa, I never did realize if the prawn was clean or not. How to determine? From the picture above you can notice how it has been split open from the head to all the way to the back. If you see your prawn has a black stuff on it, then probably you might need to take it out yourself. Anyway, what happened was that after a few hours suddenly I had large spots and patches all over my body. Apparently I caught the hives, and yes it was itchy and it wasn’t a good sight to see. I head over to Deluxe’s place and took some medication and it was good the next day. So do be careful!

Yeah, basically those are the 2 things I normally look out for when eating Laksa. Yes, it taste good. Don’t believe me, go ahead and try it. Hehehe.. You guys have a nice day. Time to get back to work ;)

For more information on Laksa, it’s actually on Wikipedia o.0
