Dear Esther

You’re 7 months and 6 days today. Daddy was suppose to post something earlier, but Daddy had something else to attend to. So let us start what had actually happened for the past few weeks since Daddy last wrote to you.      Well, last week was Mummy’s birthday. We didn’t had a big celebration as Daddy was busy with work and couldn’t really prepare to do anything much. Lol. But Mummy was understanding. Daddy managed to get her a cake earlier that day. And we had KFC for dinner. Never the less, Mummy & you weren’t feeling well so we pretty much had everything at home for those past few days. Then the following day, mummy’s friend dropped by as well to celebrate her birthday. And Aunty Sze Hui bought you a blue hippo. And you were one smart little baby, know how to make friends very fast. As you were happily playing away with Aunty Sze Hui while mummy have her dinner and daddy bathe.    Week before that, your Grand Aunty Zainab paid us a visit. Finally she was able to see you for the very first time after 7 months. Lol. She had heard so much about you, and was delighted to be able to carry you. But being you, you pretty much was quiet at first and trying to sort of “register” her into the tiny little mind of yours. Lol. But after her 2nd trip, boy were you happy to see her. I guess you had your way in making people smile. Never the less, everyone who saw you said that you’re one happy little baby. And I couldn’t disagree with them.      So what is up your sleeves now at this age? Despite the fact you can’t crawl yet. But you’re pretty much turning around like nobody’s business. Guess probably that’s the way you tend to move around. Hehehe.. And of course, Daddy couldn’t forget the moment when you said “Pa Pa” right after The Wiggles had come to an end. Mummy was a bit jealous though, as she was telling Daddy she spent more time with you but instead you called Daddy first. Lol. But again, you were one smart baby and quickly uttered “Ma Ma” after that. So I guess it’s all good. No doubt, you can begin to repeat the words now. But I guess it won’t be long before you can differentiate between “Ma Ma” & “Pa Pa”. And now you can pretty much transfer yourself over to either Mummy or Daddy. Especially today, when mummy and you came down for a while. You quickly raised up both your hands and bend over to daddy asking, daddy to carry you. Well, isn’t that a sight for sore eyes. Lol. Guess, you wanna give Daddy a hug after a few hours not seeing each other. :D      Ok. Daddy will stop here for now. You’re currently sleeping in your tent. Daddy needs to make sure that you don’t get bitten by the mosquitoes. Tomorrow, Ah Neh will be dropping to visit you. Well, I’ll leave that for tomorrow. Remember that Mummy & Daddy love you very much ya ;)

Loving you always,
Daddy

The Long Silence

Never really want to admit it. But basically, it has been pretty much a tough week for me. There comes a time in life, where you pretty much need to sit back and reflect on the things that are currently happening around you now.
A good example is probably, where do I go from here next. Honestly speaking, after being pushed around for a long time and only remain quiet about it. I guess it’s about time, I need to show people that I mean business. Yes, I have a rough few weeks. And yes, things never really turned out the way that I thought it would be.
So what’s my plan? Well, probably will be doing something drastic, and hopefully I won’t live to regret the decision that I make. This is because, well. Basically I had enough. Well, for starters there’s no such thing as a free ride. So the next time you want me to do something for you. It’s gonna cost, and it will not be cheap! You have been warned.

Yes. I’m stress out at the moment, but hey.. It’s for a good cause. Anyway, for those of you who never really like to receive spam calls or sms. You should try MCleaner out. Kinda affordable, and it pretty much helps you block out unnecessary calls or sms which I should have used it a few months ago before all these things had to happened. Never the less it’s all good.

And oh, the reason behind the long silence is I had been extremely busy, and of course reconstructing the shop website. Many thanks for friends to help comments and correct it along the way. Hehehe.. And I’m currently reconstructing this site as well. As I’m planning to merge all the sites that I managed under one area. A lot of work needed to be done, but I’m planning to get it all done by the end of this month hopefully.. Hehe.. So stay tuned.

Emergency Rescue For Pulau Ketam Dogs

News From SPCA Selangor

Abandoned Dogs Cannibalizing Each Other
SPCA Selangor & Save A Stray Start Emergency Relief Efforts Today

4th May 2009, KLANG – SPCA Selangor Animal Inspectors and Save A Stray founder Jacqueline Tsang made another trip to Pulau Ketam and the neighbouring uninhabited island on Monday to check on the dogs that had been abandoned on Pulau Selat Kering.

What they witnessed confirmed their worst fear.

The dogs have no choice but to eat carcasses of other dogs, as there is no other source of food available for weeks

Upon approaching Pulau Selat Kering, the team saw approximately 10 dogs on the fringe of the island. When they moved closer, a horrific sight unfolded. Several emaciated dogs were crowded and hunched around something – they were hungrily feasting on the remains of another dog.

They were fighting amongst each other for a small meal. The stronger dogs dominated, while weak dogs sat at a distance and watched helplessly. Nearby, a weak dog was screaming because several dogs were trying to bite her. The sound of dogs fighting could be heard in the distance intermittently. The dogs were starving, and very skinny – they had not had a proper food source for weeks.

Dogs eating the dog kibbles hungrily

About 15 more dogs were seen resting among the mangroves. Inspector Murugan walked through the swampland and quickly emptied two 15-kilo bags of dog food onto the sand, and filled up a bucket with clean drinking water. The dogs immediately rushed out towards the food, and ate hungrily.

Upon reaching back to the main island (Pulau Ketam), the team met with the Sungai Lima village head (also facing a stray dog crisis), and Mr Loo (Secretary of Ketam Dogs Catching Committee). They agreed to cooperate with SPCA & SAS on emergency rescue and relief efforts for the abandoned dogs, as well as long-term plans sterilize the dogs and either rehome or relocate them.

Immediate Action

Today (6th May 2009), Jacqueline from SAS, SPCA Animal Inspectors, SPCA Vet Dr Goh and SPCA Kennel worker Maran have gone to Pulau Selat Kering to start catching and transporting as many abandoned dogs back to the main island of Pulau Ketam for rehabilitation and safekeeping. Dogs that are too weak or sickly will be euthanized humanely on the spot, to prevent them from suffering further.

The dogs will be provided with food and water everyday, and will be monitored while confined in cages. Once they are healthy enough, the dogs will be neutered and re-homed or re-located.Thus far, 10 cages have been secured (5 donated, and 5 purchased by SPCA) for the transportation and confinement of the dogs.

Updates will be posted on a daily basis on the SPCA Website www.spca.org.my

How You Can Help

Approximately 100 – 200 dogs are still on the island, and need to be relocated immediately

SPCA and SAS are appealing to the public to contribute to their Pulau Ketam fund, to aid the emergency rescue and relief efforts over the next several weeks. Funds will be utilized to hire boats for transportation of the dogs, purchase dog food, medical supplies and cages. The start-up fund is RM1,300 – proceeds from a networking event SPCA organized last Sunday.

We also appreciate donations in kind – 3’ x 3’ multipurpose cages, dog biscuits and canned food, food and water bowls, towels, water storage containers, and flea/tick spray. All donated items can be sent to the SPCA Animal Shelter in Ampang Jaya.

Background Information

Pulau Ketam consists of two settlements – Pulau Ketam Village and Sungai Lima Village. Both villages claim to have been facing a stray dog crisis for the last several years. Earlier this month, newspapers reported that Pulau Ketam villagers were trapping stray dogs and transporting them to a 3 vacant island in a desperate attempt to reduce the population of dogs. Sungai Lima villagers later started a similar operation.

Pulau Ketam villagers reported that 312 dogs had already been trapped and abandoned on uninhabited Pulau Tengah out of an estimated population of 2000, while Sungai Lima villagers estimated their stray dog population to be around 600.

SPCA Animal Inspectors Cunera and Murugan, and SAS founder Jackie Tsang made a trip to Pulau Ketam earlier this week. They found that most of the villagers owned dogs themselves, and had no intention of causing harm to the strays on the island. They were frustrated at the stray dog population, which is quickly spiraling out of control – the villagers estimate that there are approximately 2000 strays on the island. The villagers said that they did not want the dogs caught and euthanized, and thought that leaving them to survive on another island would be better. The villagers were upset with the reports in the media, which claimed that they had been burning the dogs or abusing them – which they denied doing.

The team found that during the day time, there were dozens of stray cats and dogs roaming the island. However, when they surveyed a part of the town from 12.30pm-1.30am, they counted 82 dogs in just a small area. The dogs look generally healthy, with several suffering from minor injuries.

At a meeting with the village leaders, they agreed to support a mass sterilization effort for both stray and pet dogs (and cats) by SPCA and SAS.

PLEASE HELP US HELP THESE DOGS.

So What Now

Ok. I’ve pretty much been out of action for quite some time already. Yeah, times a tough nowadays. Despite the free time I had unfortunatley I couldn’t connect to the Internet during working time. Thus ending my blogging career. Lol. Went and got a Belkin modem on Wednesday. Unfortunately for me, after spending hours of tweaking it, I was not able to get it to work. From my assumption was that, that modem was not able to synchronize with line. So I went and got it changed this morning, after bringing Esther to see the doctor as she was sick.
Taken from our farm in Miri during the evening

Anyway, been kinda busy for the past few weeks because of work and also other stuff that I’m currently doing at the moment. I was in Miri for a few days, early this month as I was pretty much scouting the area for potential business. Never the less, those few days in Miri I’ve pretty much sorted quite a number of things there. And hopefully things would be going smoothly, and will be able to get more prospect. Lol. What to do, times are tough now and mouth needs to be fed.

One of the best place to have kolo mee

Been working on Flash lately, and it’s kinda easy from what I see. But the problem with me is lack of creativity. Never the less, I think I should be able to work out a few things before I submit another project for approval. Would like to thank Ketam for his late night help. Hehehe.. Guess, that’s what friends are for.

Finally able to see Esther after a few days
On to family issues. For the past few days Deluxe had not been feeling very well. Apparently she caught the flu, which was giving her headaches and practically not having a good time. Well, she didn’t get the swine flu which was a big relief. And yesterday, of all time it had to be a public holiday. Esther apparently had low grade fever, as they would talk about it. Her temperature was about 36.3 – 37.8 degree celsius. We made her sleep in between Deluxe and myself as it would be easier for us to tend to her when she gets up. After giving her those head cooler stuff, where you stick on their foreheads to make fever go down. She was feeling much better this morning, before we went and see the doctor. The nurse checked her temperature, and said she didn’t had fever. But never the less, she was also given fever medicine. Kinda weird don’t you think. Anyway, at least both Deluxe and Esther is currently on medication. It pretty much gave us a relief when I went and took care of her just now.

Anyway, think I’ll get back to work again. Going to do something else at the moment to finish it up by this weekend since the internet is finally working now. Lol. So I guess it was the modem after all. Lol. Hope everything will go well. And from now onwards, when I go to sleep or if it tends to rain heavily. Best I turn off the modem and unplug all of it. What to do, prevention is better than cure.. Lol. Anyway, I took a few pictures while I was in Miri. Head over to my multiply site and have a look. Have a nice day.
