Credit Cards

Credit Cards - Friend or Foe? Not too sure what I wanted to blog today. But this topic seems to come in my mind, as I just received my credit card statement.  At the moment I currently have 3 active cards with me at the moment.  One is really free for life with no conditions, while the other 2 I need to swipe at least 12 transaction in a year to pretty much waive off the annual fees.
I only started out with 1 card initially, but then because I always send my mom to the airport whenever she’s around.  There will always be a group of people standing near the doorway asking if you would like to apply for a credit card.  And my mom tend to “kesian” these people because she used to have a friend who always look for her to apply for a credit card.  To cut long story short, I always ended up being a victim to go and apply from them.  Because it’s very easy to apply for a credit card nowadays, just as long your minimum wages is at RM1.5K a month then after using it for a year.  Application is even easier, compared to the first application.  I always go for the free gifts they are giving out whenever I apply with them.  The latest one I got was a chess set, which I doubt it’s useful because I don’t have anyone to play with.  Lol.
Because of the numerous amount of success one can actually apply for a card after a year, which pretty much bring me to a problem which I’m currently facing at the moment.  Fortunately for the cards I haven’t activated yet, which also comes with a 12 time swipe a year to waive off the annual fees.  I’m currently having problems with the 2 cards that needs to be swipe at least 12 times.  I’ve already used one to pretty much make payment to my insurance company, while the other two cards I’m currently using it at the moment.  Since both my cards have different billing dates, I tend to pretty much “hutang” one card the following month where I take the advantage of the 20 days interests free + the day I swipe my card before my billing date.
Actually everything went well, till the day I accidentally activated the wrong card which I thought was free for life but it was not.  Lol.   Because I hardly go shopping, and it’s kinda hard for me to figure out where to actually use my card.  If you were to say for petrol, well I’ve already got one card doing that.  I tried of using to pay bills with them, but the problem is that I read from the terms and condition auto billing does not count.
But probably that might not be the major problem.  The major problem is that, did you know whenever you pay you buy your tickets online.  Every bank in Malaysia will know you made a purchase and pretty much know all the details where and when you swipe the card.  They will sort of “keep” this record, and then one fine day you will receive a call from some anonymous people from some anonymous insurance company stated that you are the one of the very few that have been selected to apply for an insurance at such and such cost.
Most of the time I turned them down, and at times I told them I only have bonus link card which I thought was acceptable.  Never the less, my phone never stops ringing.  In conclusion, credit cards are really good if you know how to properly managed them well.  And of course, don’t over spend on what you can afford.  Normally I’ll pay off the total amount even before the statement date comes.  Anyway, that’s all I want to talk about today.  Lol, as I don’t really have any other inspration to blog about.  Have a nice weekend.
