We’re living in a sad, cruel world…

Currently trying out some of the header for my new post. Hehehe. Still trying to design a few more. Never the less, the thumbnail seems to have problems syncing. Oh well. Back to the old drawing board.

Latest updates on my shop website, is that everything is coming smoothly. Thank goodness for CSV. Seriously to get it running by next week, since the school holidays is here. A lot of people are coming in and out of Kuching.

Courtesy of The Star When I first read the news, I was pretty much had mixed up feelings on what had actually happened. On one hand we had a hero who was trying to rescue a maiden who was trapped inside the car screaming for help, and hoping to live another day to tell the story. But unfortunately, as reported by the news, the petrol kiosk didn’t want to lend fire extinguisher.
The first reaction I had was pretty much the same as everyone else I believe. Who think that the person responsible for the death is the 2 kiosk attendant. For starters, this guy was willing to give his IC, pay for the fire extinguisher, and explained I believed from A to Z. But these attendants still refused to rent out the fire extinguisher. Anyway, the reason why they did not decide to give the guy the fire extinguisher was due to the fact that they were worried it might have been a case of robbery. Since it was 3.30am, so you can’t really put the blame on them 100%.

If we want to start pointing fingers, then the person we should start is ourselves. If I were to happen be in the shoe of the those kiosk attendants I would have done the same exact thing. But, I would probably see how genuine or sincere this person really is. If he had offer to leave his IC, then chances are is that I’ll give him the fire extinguisher but get my mate to back me up in case something else happens. Because we are living in a society where fear strikes us, and of course we would always think of ourselves first rather than others. How many of us would actually stop and help someone when their car broke down, or have a flat? I remember doing it once, and just to check with them if they need to call anyone or need any assistance. They replied they had call the mechanic and he’s on the way, then I asked if they need anything else they told me they were fine.
Fear After getting back into the car, a friend of mine said I was either being really kind or extremely naive. The first thing he said to me was that, don’t simply go down and help people. You never know it could be a trap especially at night again some more. They could have knock you out cold, and steal your ride. But I jokingly told him that, well you should have been my backup if anything like that could happen. And maybe it was the other way around, that they were actually worried we might be the one who will rob them instead.

We have come to a stage where, we can not trust strangers nor could we let our guard down especially when we’re walking around in dark alleys to our car. As we might be worried of snatch thief and so on. You can’t always depend on the police as well, since they always say that they have their hands full. And I do believe that there are still good cops out there, despite the negative impression the public have on them. What to do, they are just doing their jobs. Just to side track a little, I remember one day when I was suppose to pick up my parents who came back from a trip. And I saw, this traffic police went and started writing tickets for those who illegally parked their car. So there was this particular car, which I thought would pretty much get off the hook. But this cop had balls though, and ended up writing the ticket in the end. Not long after that, the person who owned the car went ballistic and apparently the superior had to step in and explained to the person saying that, it’s his first day on the job. And eventually took back the ticket and apologize again. Most likely I assume that the cop that wrote the ticket would end up paying for the summon, instead of the person.

So you can’t blame the police for doing their job, by writing tickets for those who parked illegally, speeding or even not wearing your seat belt. Whereby in the first place, we gave them that opportunity to do so. Anyhow, that’s how the society is today. We can’t seem to trust the police, because we are more afraid of them rather than feel safe unlike the one in US. Deluxe once told me, that the police there were seriously efficient. One person was running, which she believed that he rob one place. And all of a sudden cops were all over him, and of course he was sent to jail.

Probably you should need to read this article here which I came across today. Don’t take for granted that the crime rate has dropped, because people don’t have the confidence with the police anymore by making police report.

Anyway, back to the story on we are living in a society where fear seems to be planted in our lives. Also a good example, was when Israel went and hijack the ship and caused numerous death which was suppose to bring help to Gaza. A good reason why they did it was probably they were afraid of them, but that is still not a very good reason of killing innocent lives.

So can we do anything about all this?  I believe there is, but it’s going to take a very long time.  We can’t always depend on politicians.  Don’t think that you help them, and they will help you back.  The last time I saw a YB here was during the election and after the election when they won.  After that, I seldom see him around anymore.  And probably they’ll try to politicize everything in any way.  But we can’t blame them as well, that’s what they do because they’re politicians.  So don’t go around complaining that they don’t do anything because you were the one responsible putting them there in the first place.  Was pretty much disappointed with the outcome of Selcat, but that’s another story.  Anyway, this is a song I think have been written for a very good reason.  But unfortunately we sort of listen it through the left ear and go out on the right.  Think about it, you can make a difference.
