Welcome To 328 Gallery

Ok. I don’t think I ever really made a proper introduction on my work place, as I just finally realized that I could actually blog about my shop :P This idea struck me while I was blogging about Poppies on my personal site. Plus whereby on this site seems a little bit stagnant. Hehehe. But it’s all good. Anyway, enough said.. On to business.

You would be first greeted by the Foo Dogs (they’re for sale too :D )

Situated at the heart of Main Bazaar, we are located just opposite the waterfront near to the police station. Here you would be able to find all sorts of Sarawak souvenirs from beaded items, textile, shells, wooden items, baskets and small items. We do sell Chinese Antiques dated all the way from the Tang Dynasty to Qing Dynasty. Continue reading

Poppies In The Spring

Few weeks ago, Irene emailed me asking me if I would like to join a few of them to go to Poppies and blog about them. Since she mentioned that it will be during the weekend, so I said what the heck. So after church, Deluxe and myself went and head over to The Spring and straight to Poppies. There I met up with fellow bloggers such as Jimmy, Edwin, Anna, & Cherlyn. I’ll probably post about it on my next post. :P

You would probably wonder why the owner of the store decided to call the store Poppies. Most of you would pretty much figure out that it’s a type a flower. So what does a flower would have to do with babies? Well, over here probably you would call your baby all sorts of pet name such as “珍宝”, or Ah Di or stuff like that. Ang Mo people would refer their babies as Poppies. So that’s basically how they named their store.

Their first branch is located in Sibu, whereby the owner was pretty much frustrated that she was not able to get any complete baby stuff in one place unlike in West Malaysia whereby they have a store specially for babies stuff. So she decided to help us Sarawakians, and started Poppies to help soon to be, new and also veteran moms to ensure they wouldn’t have anymore headaches in searching for baby stuff.

Upon entering the store itself, they have pretty much sorted out everything very nicely in different sections. I first went and browse through their collection of clothings which was pretty unique and cute. As I was looking around, they even had this.

Children underwear, which consist of Toy Story, and even Sponge Bob Square Pants. Most of us who were there nearly flipped once we sighted this item.

Another section of the store is baby food. You have a whole rack for you to choose from. But mostly their baby foods are Heinz products, which are don’t play-play stuff. And as for the price range for these products wasn’t as expensive as I thought it was when I first went here a few months ago.

Among the flavors of these baby foods are Caramel Custard, Creamy Banana Porridge, Fruity Pear, and also Cheesy Ravioli. Man, I tell you baby nowadays are so lucky -_-” Wonder how come they didn’t have this when I was a baby. Anyway, these food are classified by it’s age. So that they will have the right vitamins and nutrients to ensure the baby not only will be full but also healthy too.

We’re pretty done for the baby food area. Let me bring you to another area on what you should expect from Poppies.

Yes, baby has cosmetics too. Lol.. Well sort of. Anyway, these are creams which can be SAFELY applied on babies. There are also other baby skin care which can help babies to heal faster from rashes. And for those mommies who are worried about birth stretch marks, well they have lotions to PREVENT that problems too! How cool can it get!

A child trying out a toy

Another reason why you would like to bring your children here to Poppies is that you can get them toys. Yes, they do sell a variety of them here in Poppies. At least, you will not have any headache on what to get for your young ones. Here they can try out each and every toy before you purchase them. So at least you know your child is gonna love them, because most of these toys are educational.

A good example of an educational toy would be this Leap Frog Leap Pad. A very impressive education toy, which I think is very suitable for young ones at a tender age. What actually happen here is that, this machine actually reads out the book for your children. And not only that, it comes with it’s own pen and when you touch the tip of the pen to the word, it will read out the actual word. Pretty impressive, don’t you think.

Young & Old Love Poppies

All toys are non breakable, and fun to play with!

So many things to see.. And you’re worried that your kids might run wild and break things. Have no fear, Poppies have already sorted out those issues for you. For mommies, what you can do is ask daddy to bring them to the fun chamber. So you can rest assure to shop in peace. LoL!

Somethings for mommies as well

Not all things are for babies or children. There are also things for moms as well. You can actually get your milk powder, as well as also fashionable pregnancy clothings. Which pretty much saves me headache where now I would know where to get stuff for Deluxe’s clothings. There are also products which also helps mommies to breastfeed, and also all sorts of gadgets which really help to make life easier for parents. So if you’re expecting soon, then you must at least drop by here to see what products can actually help you.

Varieties of Books & Cds for kids to learn

At Poppies as well, you can be sure that your children will not be lack of any education. This place has a variety of selected learning materials which can actually help develop your babies minds. So don’t miss out on any of these materials as it can surely be of use for your child development.

They do have pregnancy books as well, to help guide new parents to help expect the unexpected. With so many rich information that can be obtain here in Poppies, it’s no wonder they came up with an interesting motto. “Poppies – We Help Them To Grow”.

Top Quality Staff

Like every other store, you can be sure that here in Poppies you always get the best quality staff to assist you if you have any problems. Apparently these people are well trained regarding each product and they would be able to help choose the correct product for your child. Talk about customer service, whereby they would also give you additional information if you require any.

At Poppies, they prefer to have branded products compared to not very popular products. One reason why they actually sell Avent milk bottles is that, when baby are consuming milk via bottles. There will be actually a lot of air going into their tummy, and thus instead of continuously burping them every few minutes while consuming their milk. Avent milk bottles actually reduce the amount of air going into their tummy. So at least right now I know I’m prepared on what I should do. Hehehe.

Apparently they sell Avent as well as Dr.Brown products. And recently I just had a chat with a friend of mine in KL. We were talking about bottle sterilizers, and she told me 3 years ago she bought it for about RM380++. And when she checked recently the price has already increase in one of the departmental store. And I did a search on eBay, and someone is selling their 2nd hand bottle sterilizer which is not a complete set, at about 20% discount from the actual price. So I went and have a look at how much a sterilizer would cost, and to my surprised. It’s really cheaper compared to the one my friend saw in KL. From what I understand, here in Poppies they are trying to be price compatible as in West Malaysia. So that you won’t need to fly all the way there just to get something, where you can actually get the same product and at the same price without flying.

What about baby bed or all the other accessories you need for your baby when they are sleeping. Yup, you’ve guessed it. At Poppies they have a range variety of beds which you can choose from to ensure that your baby will sleep soundly throughout the whole night. Not only that, they will be willing to send your beds to your place as well as installing your item on the spot with no additional charges.

They too have special mattresses, pillows and bolsters which is made for high quality latex that actually helps the baby to sleep soundly at night. So you won’t have an unnecessary wake up call in the middle of the night. They do have mosquito netting as well as musical items that can help ensure your baby will feel comfortable and safe each time they sleep.

Another product one should be aware of would be strollers. They have a nice variety of strollers as well car seats. There is one stroller whereby you can actually fit in two babies on to it with an additional add on kit. Which I think it’s pretty neat if you have 2 young ones which are not far apart. Looking at it, I felt as if the one behind the back seat would feel as if he’s inside a tank ready to go for war, or a nice place to sleep in.

Car seats are important as well, is because they believed that when you train the little ones from young by straping on their safety belt. As they grow older they would automatically do so as a habit to ensure that they will be safe each time they are on the road. So be sure to strap your young ones at a tender age, who knows it can save their lives in the future.

Well for starters, every RM1 you spend at Poppies will be 1 Point. Upon collecting 1,000 point they will give you a gift voucher which has a value of RM50 in it. Not only that, you will be given special prices for selected items that you purchase here at Poppies. As you can see, I’ve already applied for my membership already. Not only that, if I were to purchase 10 milk powder or diapers from them, I would also be given another free on selected items only. It’s all about saving! Since all these things are daily necesities, it is recommended to apply for this membership.

Their operating hours are basically 10AM to 10PM daily, except for the 1 Saturday of each month, whereby their operating hours will be up to 12AM. And also they will always have their weekly sales every Wednesday on selected items. So why don’t you head over there and have a look, you can be surprised with the tons of things you can find there! I think it’s really great for Poppies to open a branch here in Kuching, as I know it would pretty much help not only me but also a lot new parents coming up. We now know that we don’t need to fly over to KL just to get a cheap bottle sterilizer, or a sturdy stroller. Heck, we can do it here in Kuching or Sibu. Kudos to Olivia for making an effort to help us upcoming parents! Thank you so much, and you’ll be sure we’ll be coming back soon :D

RM88 From Advertlets …

Ok. First time I post about Advertlets after so long joining them.. Let me see if I can get this correctly.. You can actually join them here. Ok.. On to the questions….

1. Advertlets has a new ad campaign for a new client that will run in multiple countries. Guess how many countries will it be running in?
8 (Saw this in one of the Advertlets ads. Lol.. Recruit.net)

2. February 14 is a significant date. As I am single this year, what will me and the Advertlets team most likely be spending the next few late nights working on, and announcing/launching on Feb 14? Hint: Most relationships are based on one person and how many parties?
Most likely their first anniversary meet on the 9th of March. And of course, singles are most highly recommended to come.. And hopefully get hitched by then. Hehehe..

3. When was Advertlets founded, and what will we most likely launch on our first anniversary?
Adverlets could be founded at 3rd January 2007 (due to the their site creation). But most likely will launch their first anniversary on the the 9th of March 2008. As they held their first blogger meet back in 9th March 2007.. So that’s basically my best guess.. :)

Fingers crossed :P
