Hong Kong Noodles

Had dinner last night at Hong Kong Noodles Padungan. This is what we ordered.

Crispy Noodle somthing. Menu #40

This one tasted way much better compared to the one with had in Saberkas. At only RM6, this has a mixture of mix veggies and crispy noodles. Very nicely done.

Ginger Beef Rice @ RM5

Ginger beef rice was ok.  Beef was soft and tender, and the ginger did actually add flavors to it.  So I guess it’s all good.

Anyway, short food post for today.  Need to do something else at the moment.  Have a nice day!

Mie Sedap – Mee Goreng

Mee Goreng (Mie Sedap) & IndoCoffe 3 in 1 Cappuccino

Ok, its been a while since I last posted something on food as I didn’t really take much pictures because most of the time I would have eaten the same thing.  Never the less, this picture was taken few weeks ago before I decided to change the way I eat.  I would like to introduce you to Mee Goreng from Indonesia by the company of Mi Sedap.

Indomie

I have always been a fan of Indomie since I was young.  I recalled I could eat like 2-3 packets one time every 3-4 days.  Now they have changed it to Ibumie, but in the same packaging.  But that all change when I got to know Deluxe.  Apparently she’s been eating another brand which is Mie Sedap the soup version, and knowing me very well.  She went and bought the mee goreng version.

Mie Sedap

When I tasted it at first, I felt it wasn’t as good as indomie but since we bought the 5 packets pack.  I guess I had to finish it sooner or later.  As I began to eat more and more of it, I find that it’s not as bad as I thought it would be.  Plus it has that little round thingy which I think could be garlic or something makes it even nicer.  Never the less, I’ve been consuming it ever since then.

Little round garlic balls

So just few months ago, I went and bought Ibumie once again just to see if it taste the same or not.  Unfortunately for me, the size of it seems to have shrunk from what I remember.  Either that, Mie Sedap seems to be bigger.  Anyway, I went and try it but too my dismay I felt as if it had more MSG compared to Mie Sedap.  As I tend to get thirsty the whole day, compared to Mie Sedap version.

So in conclusion, from that day onwards I never went back to Indomie / Ibumie.  And have been a faithful customer of Mie Sedap.  As much as this may look like a promo, but unfortunately I was not paid to write this post.  Oh well.  One more thing about this I learn is that, once you consume one packet it is best to wait till at least 3-4 days before you eat it again.  Think it takes the system to completely flush out whatever is in there I suppose.  Never the less, you guys should give this a go and maybe let me know what you think.

Food that I’ve taken last week

Ok.  Here are some of the interesting food that I’ve taken last week.

Beef Murtabak @ Fern Cafe

Wasn’t as good as I thought it would be.  Some how rather the taste was missing something, just couldn’t figure out what.  Anyway, the best Beef Murtabak I tasted is at Expert Foodcourt near RH Plaza.

Roti Canai & Roti Telur @ Fern Cafe

Deluxe said the same about this.  The roti canai was not crispy but rather a bit spongy kind of feel.  She still prefers the one at Ya Da Jie foodcourt which is next to the Post office here at Carpenter Street.

Curry Pan Mee @ Kopitiam next to Ipoh Town at Jln Song

I was being adventurous on this one.  From the looks of it, it’s really tasty.  Curry was ok, doesn’t look like the one that was shown on the menu.  But never the less, it’s oklah.  Would give it a 6/10.

Thick Pan Mee @ Kopitiam next to Ipoh Town at Jln Song

The noodles was a bit hard from what Deluxe told me.  And the soup was ok, but she still prefer the one again at Expert Foodcourt near RH Plaza.  Because the soup has additional ingredient with wine I think.  Never really tried that before as I always attack the Beef Murtabak. Hehehe.

Marry Brown Lucky Plate

Was at the Hills Shopping Mall last weekend as we wanted to get something for Esther.  So after going around, less than 10 minutes the place was still as empty as before.  Anyway, I ordered the Lucky Plate while Deluxe went and got the kids meal instead.  In conclusion, if you want good chicken.  Stick to KFC, Sugarbun or Chicago 7.  Either that there was something wrong with the chef that day.

That’s my report on food last week.  Will see if I can find anything else interesting this week.  Happy hunting!

After 2 & Mooncake Festival

As you all pretty much would have known that last night was the last day for the mooncake festival at carpenter street.  So Deluxe, Esther and myself wanted to have the so called last walk before they all decided to pack and leave us to wait for another year long.  But before that, we head over to After 2 had our dinner.  Just to let you know the pictures from the menu itself never really looks like the actual food.  Anyway, here’s what we had.

Lemon Grass Chicken Rice Set with Fruits RM8.80

The taste on this was ok.  But it did took a while for it to arrive.  The sauce was a bit sweet and spicy as I would recall, but the chicken itself is kinda tough.  Maybe they either over cooked it or didn’t cook it well enough.  Any how, we were given a small plates of fruits as well.  Fruits was a bit bitter, especially the honey dew just to let you know.

Herbal Chicken Rice with Fruits @ RM8.80

Again the picture from the menu didn’t quite exactly looked like this.  I guess it’s all marketing I suppose.  Never the less the taste was ok, but it would have been better if they didn’t added the over fried onions into it.  But anyhow, if you ordered this set it also comes with the fruit plate minus the salad.  At least this chicken was slightly well done compared to mine.  If you love ginseng and chinese herbs you might want to get this.

In conclusion, the food was all right.  We spent about RM20 including 2 drinks (barley RM1.40, Chinese tea RM1) for the two of us.  The place seems to be OK with air condition as well as free wifi.  But it was kinda disturbing to see flies actually flying around inside the place, plus mosquitoes as well.  So it was kinda a set back when we actually noticed them after we placed our orders.  But the place has less menu though compared to After 3.

After that, we headed over to Carpenter Street for the last time before heading back home.  As we walked pass the places, quite a number of stalls was not there. Probably it was due to the fact that maybe everyone else was at home having a family dinner.  We ended up getting a few stuff just before we call it a night.

Gourmet Jumbo Sausage @ RM4

Mayonnaise Hot Dog RM2

Empress Dragon Peanut Balls @ RM3

So that’s pretty much about it.  Didn’t bring out my A70 last night was due to the fact I forgotten to charge my batteries.  Hehe.  So yeah, it’s like that.  You guys have a nice day now.

Laksa Sarawak ala Deluxe

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all my muslim friends Selamat Hari Raya. You guys have a good one this year aiight!

Ingredients For Laksa, shredded chicken, prawns, eggs, Fish Cakes & Mee Hoon

Deluxe learn the art of Laksa making while she was in KL last month along with my mom.  Apparently mom had passed down the skills to her already.  And so far she has been making Kolo Mee quite often already, so that’s why I don’t really eat much of kolo mee when we’re outside.  Because no point as Deluxe already knows how to make it.  Anyway, today we’re going to talk about Laksa.  I wasn’t really in the kitchen while she was preparing this along with my mom.  So I only had the privilege of finding out how the end product turned out to be.

Well, the taste is really good.  And I’m not saying that, because she’s my wife but from a person who tends to eat a lot. Lol.  For me the spiciness was just nice, not too spicy but still had a nice pinch to it.  And I was told that there was no MSG being added on to it, which also is very good.  And how do know if you have really eaten a good laksa?  Well, you’ll tend to sweat despite the weather today was raining, and slightly cold.  Yup Deluxe’s Laksa will make sure to keep you warm even during the coldest day. Hahaha.  So I guess I won’t be ordering laksa anymore from the food stall.  Maybe I should get her to learn how to cook beef stew instead. Hehehe.

End Product : Laksa

So, one good thing about home made laksa is that for starters no MSG were added.  Plus you know how often those people selling laksa are very “kiam siap” by only putting 2-3 prawns in a bowl.  Well, you can add as much as you want plus if you are like me you can also put in more shredded chicken as well.  Hehehe.  So it’s all good.  Anyway, you guys have a good one ya.  Didn’t managed to podcast last nite due to unforeseen circumstances.  Hopefully will be able to do it later.  See ya!
