Part 3 : Tea Ceremony

Ok, for this post is gonna be short. Will let the pictures do the talking :P Anyway, after the lunch reception at Telang Usan Hotel, Deluxe and I went back home and get ready for the tea ceremony at my place. But once we reached there, apparently everyone wasn’t ready yet so they asked us to wait at our room. It was pretty much very red when we went in. We managed to rest for 15 minutes before being asked to come down and began our tea ceremony session once again. Here are the pictures on what happened during that time.

Part 2 : Church Wedding Service

So here we are off to SIB Canada Hill Church, where we were going to finally get married. And again, I would like to emphasized even though we did sign our wedding certificate earlier but we weren’t officially married. Not until we were married in front of God, so my heart began to pump fast as I couldn’t wait for it to be finally official. We arrived at church 8.45am, whereby the whole thing starts at 9am. And everyone was pretty shocked as we arrived way too early, as we see our guest entering the church until Aunty Lucy had to ask Alvin to drive us around because it wasn’t nice for the bride and groom to wait for the guest. Basically we just had to hide ourselves that’s all, so Alvin took us to somewhere slightly further up the hill and waited there. Then it wasn’t long before Jason gave Alvin a miss call telling him that it’s ok to come down already. So back we were again to the church, and this time we got out as how we rehearsed it last night.

All Arrived

Everyone that showed up

Once we’ve arrived at the front of the stage, an opening prayer. Then followed by Praise and Worship lead by Sis. Juliet. Once all was done, then the solemnization began. As Pr.Robbie explain to the congregation as we registered earlier here in Kuching, he then began the ceremony. We were asked to exchange our vows as well as our rings. After that was done, Pr.Robbie prayed a prayer of blessing and finally we are married :D Then we were asked to walk up to the stage to receive our wedding certificate which was presented by Rev. Peter Quick.

Receiving our Wedding Cert

After that, the passage was read by Bro.Phillip Ngo who read from Ephesians 5:23-33 which reads :-

For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church— for we are members of his body. “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

Which was the main message from Pr.Robbie who gave us an explanation how God’s holy pattern of marriage is. And he explained how important is the role of the husband as the head of the family, but at the same time we as husbands must love our wives. The more we love our wife, the easier our wife will submit to us. And the role of the wife should always be the helper of her husband. And in his message he mention that, our wedding ring is a symbol that reminds us that we should continue to love each other. The more we love each other, the more shiny the ring will be. Indirectly saying that the more radiant how the husband and wife will be for others. ^_^ After the message it was a short video presentation that I prepare for the wedding. Below is the video :-

Granny was extremely happy

After the video presentation, I had another session of Ceremony of Appreciation. During this session, both Deluxe and myself express our heartfelt gratitude to both our parents, as well as Granny who was able to attend our wedding ceremony. If it wasn’t for her, we wouldn’t have done the whole ceremony here in Miri. We thank her from the bottom of our hearts that she was able to sit so long, which is a very huge improvements where she said it would hurt very much by sitting too long. :) I would have regret if I did not held the ceremony in Miri, and she wouldn’t be able to attend my wedding later. But we were glad that we did it in Miri, despites of the doubts we had. But God has been good, and everything went smoothly that day. After we presented gifts for our parents, next on the list was a song presentation that I practice for weeks. Anyway, this is how I did. Would like to thank Nick, Adrian, Justin & Serena for playing for me. Here’s the video :-

Cake cutting was next

It was all good, then it was cake cutting then followed by Praise & worship. Then it was photo session time :) After that everything ended by prayer, where we all marched out and thank everyone by the door. Later lunch was served in Telang Usan Hotel. Thus end the 2nd part of my wedding. ^_^

Part 1 : Finally I'm A NMBC Certified Member!

Please take note that I’ll be breaking these wedding into different parts so at least you won’t get lost reading. Hehehe.

On the 7th July 2007, I am officially a NMBC Certified Member. Ok. Probably you might be wondering what the heck is a NMBC Certified Member. Apparently this is basically Monkey’s term which stands for “No More Bujang Club”. I’m still pretty daze about the whole thing. As I’m probably what they call still on pretty much on cloud 9. Hahaha.. Ok. Here’s basically what happened on that very day.

Well, I got up about 5am thinking to get ready and all, whereby Deluxe had to get up about 4.30am for her make up. William and Co ( William, His Mom & Sis) arrived at the hotel about 5am and began his work. Whereby for me, I went and had a quick shower and waited for time to pass. Mom was already up getting the place ready for the tea ceremony later during the day. So about 6.45am a friend of mine Tong Fook had already arrived coming to be my “Heng Tai”. Helping me to break down the door if necessary. Hehe. So while waiting for the others to arrive we’ve basically discuss our plans on how to get in, and by force if necessary. Hehehe. Alban was the next to arrive and followed by Jason. Alvin, who was my neighbor became our chauffeur for the day. So we headed off about 7.30 from my place to the hotel.

How I wish this was my car :P

We arrived at the hotel about 7.45am, and I checked with my brother Jason the time so that we won’t be behind schedule. So off we go to the hotel room where my bride awaits. As we ascended to the stairs, passed through the endless hallway, and finally reached the door where my beloved awaits. But lo and behold, the door was shut and no one was there watching. So Tong Fook started banging the door asking it to be open, and so did I. Alvin had his moment of glory as well, hahaha.. But the door was still shut then finally it open, but it was only Ah Huat who came out of the room and quickly closed it shut before letting us in. So potong stim. Here we are again, trying to get them to open the door when Tong Fook started to yell we’re going to the church and walked away from it. After that, quietly he asked me to wait by the door while he was at the side there as if ready jump on it’s prey. True enough, not more than 20 seconds later the door opened and we all rushed in. Which we thought it was pretty easy and they didn’t even plan for it. So oklah. Not too bad.

Once I’ve entered, we had a few photo session first before carrying on to the tea ceremony. Basically it is to connect large families on wedding days. Here’s a little write up which was taken from wikipedia :

The tea ceremony during weddings also serves as a means for both parties in the wedding to meet with members of the other family. As Chinese families can be rather extended, it is entirely possible during a courtship to not have been introduced to someone. This was particularly true in older generations where the patriarch may have had more than one wife and not all family members were always on good terms. As such, during the tea ceremony, the couple would serve tea to all family members and call them by their official title. Drinking the tea symbolized acceptance into the family. Refusal to drink would symbolize opposition to the wedding and is quite unheard of since it would result in a loss of “face”. Older relations so introduced would give a red envelope to the matrimonial couple while the couple would be expected to give a red envelope to younger, unmarried relations.

During this time of tea ceremony, gifts and blessings were given to Deluxe and I from family and relatives of her side, as a sign so that our marriage will be a long and prosperous one. After the ceremony, another photography session was held. Then it wasn’t long after that we decided to head over to the church. Thus end part one of our wedding.

5 more days to go….

It has been a while since I last blogged. Apparently there are way too much thing to settle, as I thought it would be. Unfortunately for me, my engine has been condemn since my trip from Jakarta. And what happened was that, I was having flu and cough very badly for the past few days. Plus my right shoulder has been giving me a lot of problem lately as the pain was unbearable. Was supposed to visit my uncle and asked him to urut me, but he had to go off to Brunei last minute to pick my aunt who is arriving today from New Zealand. Anyway, ended up coming home and had a 4 hour nap before heading out to my mom’s friend place and got “Kuat sah” Apparently, she also went and throw away bad blood. Saying that my blood is very thick, due to over heat..Anyway, here’s the outcome on what happened..

Does it feel any better? Well I don’t feel that pain on my shoulder because it has been replaced by the pain of this endless 1 hour of torture -_-” Anyway, back to my wedding preparation. For the past whole week I have been meeting with people to arrange on how the wedding will be going on that day. And also finalizing the guest list. It’s really difficult as they need to have a lot of “confirming” to do. Oh well. It’s all good. Also I’ve been to the hotel just to see how my guest whom will be staying there. And also making arrangement on the transportation as well.

Apart from that, I’ve also visited some florist to find out who will be decorating the church as well. Basically most of the florist we visited said they have experience in decorating the church. But come to think of it, there’s not much decoration but rather need to fully utilize how to cover the stage :P Will see how it goes tomorrow when I will finalize almost everything by then. We’ve been to the food tasting at the restaurant. The food tasted very good, but let’s hope the quality of it will be like that when we will be expecting a bigger crowd. Apart from that, everything should be in order. Hopefully I will be able to settle everything by Wednesday, whereby Deluxe will be coming on Thursday. Yay! All right, I need to hit the sack already.. Pretty much exhausted.. Will report again, when I have the time :P

I'm Back & Tired

Hi all. As you all know I’ve been away to Jakarta for the past few days. It has been really hectic, especially waiting in the airport. -_-” Anyway, won’t really talk much as I will be letting my pictures do the talking :) Anyway, this is what basically we do on day 1. Arrived in Jakarta, welcomed by Deluxe, Ru and Alice (who also just flew in few hours before us), then head to the hotel and jalan-jalan a while around the shopping complex. After that, head back to the hotel, while Deluxe went and pick up Lila whom we met later and had dinner at Apin.

Day 2 we went to try mom’s gown to see if she could fit into it. :) Apparently it was a perfect fit so no alteration was required so we saved a lot of time. ^_^ Anyway, after that Deluxe dropped us all at Golden Truly and let them have a taste of Indonesian food. Apparently dad wasn’t used to the taste.. Hahaha.. But it’s all good :) We walked around there and shopped for a while then brought mom to get her a reflexology.

Day 3, I will blog a lot about this as this was really an experience of a life time. Got up pretty early and went to get make up done for both our mom’s while Dad and I also tagged along to see what is there to see. We went to the same place where Deluxe’s friend Margaret who also had her make up done. After that, we got into our attire and head to Angke. Over here, we were brief shortly on how the ceremony will go about, and how we should walk and do whatever necessary things need to be done. Example like cake cutting, or how to feed the parents, and even pour out the champagne. Yeap, they used real champagne, not those sparkling juice :P Hehehe.. But it was all good. Anyway, then we were asked to go to the waiting room and rest for a while before we were asked to go down. After 30 mins of waiting, it was then the moment of truth.

There we were coming down from the waiting room to the main hall which was packed with over 400 people. So what happened was that we were at the back entrance and began to walked on the red carpet as our name were being called out. As we walked down, and get to the stage the Pastor came up and said a prayer of blessing and performed the engagement ceremony. After that, we were asked to go down for the cake cutting ceremony, whereby after cutting the cake we were asked to feed to both our parents. Beginning with Deluxe’s parents followed by my parents. It was indeed a great experience, and then we were asked to pour the champagne. Then head back to the stage and have a toast. After that, what happened next was that everyone started to line up and began to shake our hands to congratulate. So for the next 1 and half hours I think we were up on the stage shaking our hands and smiling.

So you can imagine the amount of fun we had :) Then we had photo taking session. After the whole thing was over, all of us went down and finally makan. X_X” Boy was I hungry.. Hahaha.. But it was all good. After that, we first went back to Deluxe’s place to rest a while before heading back to the hotel. After I had a shower, I knock off and couldn’t get up till about 9 whereby mom and dad has been trying to get me up but failed. Hua hua hua. As for Deluxe she was still kuat as ever.. Hahaha.. Yeah, that’s basically about it for this first 3 days in Jakarta. Will report more later. Enjoy the pictures :)
