Earlier this year, I received news that Sarawak state election will most likely be before or after Raya. As I was told that they were starting to mobilize and beginning to get funding for their campaigns. Anyhow, signs are really showing especially when news is circling our current CM in Sarawak apparently have been in the headlines very frequently as of late (good and bad).
I believe this will be a testing ground for our current PM to see if Sarawak will continue to be a deposit for the ruling coalition of Barisan Nasional. Plus the number of increase of his popularity shows that he might be calling for a snap election sooner than we thought. Maybe that’s why you see currently UMNO is trying to distance itself from Perkasa, and uniting with other BN components to prove a point that BN is all about 1Malaysia.
It will be interesting to see how the outcome of the current election here in Sarawak. I talked to a numbered of people throughout this year asking them who they would be voting for. There has been a fair share of BN and PR, but some answer I received which I find it amusing. They were saying for Parliamentary seats they will be voting for PR, but as for State Election they will continue to vote for BN. Reason behind it saying that at least in the parliament there would be voice from Sarawak to demand more from the country, where as for the State seats they just to ensure that development would still be carried out.
In terms of generations, older people tend to vote for BN while the younger generations will stick their guns with PR. But I do meet some young people that they will continue to vote for BN because they’re parents are hard core supporters of BN. Lol, so they will always think that the opposition are here to sort of “kacau” development.
I’m not too sure about the rural areas though. No doubt media have been doing a lot of writing that some are angry, while others are not with the current government. But you can’t really judge from that, as the media tends to make small news seems so big. I believed that a lot of the rural folks are currently happy with the situation where they are at the moment. As most of them are currently old and thinks that the government is doing well. Plus they don’t get news about what is currently happening with the country. I believe that they are more concern about the news of their family and friends instead. So it would be interesting to see the results later, so you can pretty much be sure who is talking facts or fictions.
I guess there will be more ugly things popping out about CM and his family wealth, which I sort of have a conspiracy theory about it. But I won’t be talking about that, because after all. This is politics. But I still think urban areas will most likely fall to the hands of PR, and rural areas will still continue to be within BN hands.
Since PKR will be having their election as well, I believe BN will most likely be observing the flaws that could come out during the campaigning and might be used against them in this coming election. You never know, maybe our current CM will have an inspiration and call for a state election on the very day PKR is holding. And probably that would be something interesting to see.
Anyway, these are just my thoughts and opinions only. So whatever I say here has pretty much nothing to do deter you from your faith in whichever party you decide to vote for. So have you registered to be a voter yet? Because this is the only day when you really have the power to choose which party to represent you in making Malaysia a better place for you and your future generation.
When I heard the news that
This made PKR effort to station its men at the construction site -
As history states that The Astana was built during 1870 by Charles Brooke as a gift for his wife, while Fort Margherita was also built by him in 1879 to pretty much fend off pirates during those time. When I googled up
Maybe for Vyner Brooke back then could probably say to himself as these items did not belong to him and maybe it wasn’t any much of value anyway. So he could have left it there and not trouble himself to pack everything and go. But then again, who knows if these foundations are actually foundations to support the buildings. This is what I heard from my neighbors that, the shop is actually above the river which explains at times why the walls are always damp whenever we put a new fresh coat of paint. And also, when the flood came early this year the drain started to overflow.
I have been considering to start blogging about politics for a very long time. But have always been told that I need to be very careful in what I say or post on this blog as it might be classify as
So one must wonder why is it important for one to vote during an election? Why would one even bother queing up just to put a small paper inside a box? You might think that no matter who wins, it will never make a difference. You’ll always think that, BN will always win no matter what. And voting for the opposition is a waste of time because all they do is bark, but does not bite. So why vote, when you pretty much know what the results are. Plus it’s only 1 vote only. What can 1 vote actually do to make a difference?
Some may think that, voting for the government is a better choice because if the opposition do take over, they will start to fill their pockets first till they have enough. Whereby the current government is now being generous to develop the country because they have eaten enough already. A very good example why people are still skeptical in voting opposition is probably due to what has happened in Perak. You’ve got to admit that it just took 3 people to pretty much topple an opposition led government. Why? Well I believe everyone knows the story what has happened so no point mentioning all over again. Since it’s pretty much cooled off already, from where I’m looking at. It proves to show that people do have short memory, so I guess next General Election will be very interesting.
But if you’re someone like me, who pretty much sit on the fence. And you don’t know who to vote for, then you are considered the most important voters throughout the whole Malaysia. Let me tell you why you are important. Basically the opposition and the current government already have their die hard supporters. But it’s because people like us, they are trying hard to campaign and win our votes. Sure you tend to get lots of goodies and promises during these campaign, but at the end of the day. You still have no idea on who to vote for, and that’s why in order to avoid this unnecessary stress you decided not to register and cast your votes.
No doubt the government had did a lot for this country, but I feel that they could do even more. Not just by tearing down trees and make another flyover just to prevent traffic jams during rush hour. But rather, look at the people who are currently poor, oppressed and marginalised. But we still need to vote for the opposition to give them a check balance, and remind the government who are the real boss are.
I was deeply sadden when I read what happened to
